The 2002 RoboCupRescue - Robot League provided 8 teams from all over the world the opportunity to compete in NIST-inspired Reference Test Arenas for Autonomous Mobile Robots.  Researchers from Germany, Iran, Japan, New Zealand, and Japan drew large audiences throughout three days of intense competition.  Team Kavosh from the Javan Robotics Club in Iran won the competition while Team MARR from Japan placed second.
