General Information
The people at the Registration Desk will be pleased to assist you. They are able to answer questions about the conference, transportation, and sightseeing in the Gaithersburg and Washington, DC. areas.

Location
The general session will be held at NIST in the Green Auditorium in the Administration Building (101).

Communications
The telephone number for contact is 301/975-2997 or 301/975-2998. Messages will be posted on the message board outside the Green Auditorium. Attendees will not be called out of the meeting to receive telephone calls, except in emergencies.

Travel
Super Shuttle, 1-800/258-3826, is available from Gaithersburg to all area airports.

Due to heightened security, airport shuttles, and taxis are prohibited from entering the NIST grounds. All shuttles and taxis must be met at the main gate.

NIST provides a Metro Shuttle that runs every half-hour (on the hour and half-hour) between NIST and the Shady Grove metro stop. The first shuttle leaves NIST at 8 a.m. and the final trip is at 5:30 p.m. Visitors using the shuttle should wait at the front entrance to Building 101. No reservations are necessary.

The Washington Metro has subway service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The Metro System can be boarded at Shady Grove Metro Stop. Take a red line train to Gallery Place, transfer to a yellow line train to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Service is every 6 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day. The time from Shady Grove to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is about 50 minutes. The Shady Grove Station is approximately four miles from the hotel and NIST.

Coffee Breaks and Lunches
Refreshments will be provided during registration, mid-morning, and mid-afternoon breaks. Attendees can use their lunch tickets in the main cafeteria.

Social Function
In order to provide an opportunity for interaction, a formal reception will be held at the Holiday Inn on Tuesday, August 24, and a banquet will be held at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday, August 25.

Transportation
A NIST bus will provide service between the hotel and NIST each day.

If you need to get back to the Holiday Inn on August 26, you can contact the Holiday Inn for their shuttle. (301) 948-8900. However, you will need to met it at the main gate of NIST.

NOTICE TO ATTENDEES: PHOTO ID REQUIRED. Due to increased security procedures all conference attendees must show a valid photo ID to be admitted to the NIST campus. Only pre-registered attendees will be admitted.

Attendees should arrange departure to the airport from the hotel rather than NIST

Miscellaneous
The following services are located in the basement of the NIST Administration Building. Please take the elevator from the main lobby. Newspaper and Sundry Stand, adjacent to the elevators in the basement, hours: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. SEBA Gift Store, down the hallway from the Sundry Stand, on the left.

NO SMOKING IS PERMITTED IN THE BUILDING

Emergency Procedures
In the event of fire - the evacuation bell will sound continuously. Please evacuate the building through the nearest exit and assemble in the parking lot. Do not re-enter the building until the all-clear signal is given.

In the event of dangerous weather conditions - the tornado siren will sound. Please use the nearest stairwell and go down one flight to the basement of the building. Do not stand near exterior windows. Remain in the basement until the all-clear signal is given.
Security emergencies - follow the instructions of emergency services personnel.
