The NIST Metrology Interoperability Testbed

The testbed is a group of people and physical resources located at NIST in Gaithersburg, MD, that support development and testing of standards for components of dimensional metrology systems. Our primary tie to industry is through the AIAG Metrology Interoperability Team. (AIAG-MIPT). Read our FY 2004 Testbed Activities Report.

Our Message: Interface standards for commercial components allow interoperability of products from diverse vendors. We describe this message in a slide presentation. Also, read the trip report from our recent demonstration of the I++DME and DML interfaces at the IMTS 2004 show in Chicago.

NIST I++DME Test Suite Version 3.0

The NIST test suite version 3.0 containing various development utilities for implementations of the I++ DME interface specification version 1.4 are contained in the file NISTI++DMEtestSuite3.0ForIppVer1.4.zip. This zip file contains code and test programs to facilitate implementations of the I++ DME specification version 1.4 on both client and server sides of the interface. After downloading and unzipping this file, refer to the users manual, NIST I++DMEtestSuite3.0UsersManual.pdf, for more description about this test suite distribution and instructions on how best to use the test suite version 3.0.

NIST I++DME Test Suite Version 2.1

The NIST test suite version 2.1 containing various development utilities for implementations of the I++ DME interface specification version 1.30 are contained in the file NISTtestSuiteVer2.1ForIppVer1.30.zip. This zip file contains code and test programs to facilitate implementations of the I++ DME specification version 1.30 on both client and server sides of the interface. After downloading and unzipping this file, refer to the user's guide for more instructions.

Documentation for the version 2.1 NIST Test Suite is in NISTI++DMEtestSuite2.1UsersManual.pdf.

The NIST test suite version 2.1 fixes all known and reported bugs in the NIST test suite version 2.0.

NIST I++DME Test Suite Version 1.1

Code development utilities for implementations of the I++ DME interface specification version 1.1 are contained in the file NISTtestSuiteVer1.1ForIppVer1.1.zip.

Documentation for the Test Suite above: NISTI++DMEtestSuite1.1UsersManual.pdf

NIST DML Test Suite Version 1.0

The NIST DML Test Suite (NDTS) is a set of tools for vendors and end users of inspection software to test the validity of Dimensional Markup Language (DML) output data. Version 1.0 of the test suite is a prototype implementation in that it is an operational version of the test suite based on a subset of features and associated tolerances found in DML Specification 2.1. This version 1.0 is a first step in introducing the concept of the test suite and obtaining user feedback. Main components of the test suite include a physical part and a test procedure for generating the DML test results, a software utility for evaluating the DML test results produced and a benchmark file that is used in the evaluation process.

Everything needed to produce DML output for test case 1 and perform an analysis of the output against the NIST generated criteria is contained within the download file NISTDMLTestSuite_1_0.zip with the exception of the physical part. The physical part must be obtained by contacting NIST.

The User Manual for the DML Test Suite is an HTML document that can also be viewed from within the DML Test Utility.
