Meeting Minutes Tuesday 18 April 2006 Telecon In attendance: Fred Proctor, NIST Martin Hardwick, STEP Tools Inc. Alain Brail, Airbus Alain reported that Christine Hermetet-Filez has asked Howard Mason to move the SC4 Liaison meeting from its usual Wednesday time slot to either Tuesday or Thursday, so as not to conflict with our demonstrations. Alain has not heard a reply. Alain noted that the fish head part with its current stock and tooling is too large to be machinined on the university's machining center. The milling tool has a 50 mm diameter, larger than necessary, and a smaller tool should be used. He will work with the university next week and conduct some trials to ensure that the stock will fit for the demo. Siemens' France office will send two attendees to the demonstration. One or more Siemens staff from a U.S. office will also attend. The flyer has been changed and there are spots for participant logos. Alain will get permission from Howard Mason to include logos. Fred will reply to Alain with improvements to the English grammar. At today's telecon, Martin was hoping to talk to Alan Crawford about the rough machining. Martin send out a link to a private FTP site, ftp://www.steptools.com/private/demo/, with an AP-238 file for roughing and STEP-NC explorer software. The AP-238 file was generated from Alan Crawford's LSC data by STEP Tools using Mastercam. In his email, Martin asked that the group try the explorer. Martin had questions on feature orientation and placement, noting for example that the bottom of the slot in the tail is much lower than the bottom of the part. This is evident in the "rough.ppt" screenshot. We were also hoping to get an update from Boeing on their identification of a Boeing part. We will put this on the agenda for the next telecon. Alain has made some videos of the Catia cutting process simulation. There are about 20 files totaling more than a GB in size. He will try to extract the highlights and send to the group via the NIST web site. Action Items ------------ * Alain will send Martin a CL data file for the fish head part process. This includes both roughing and finishing. Martin will try to generate an AP 238 file for the finishing process, if possible, and will at least become familiar with the data. * Fred will revise the grammar in the flyer and return it to Alain. * Martin will add more slides to "rough.ppt" showing the roughing process and send out via email. * Fred will send out the URL to the NIST incoming FTP site, so that Alain can place some cutting videos there. Others can use this to put material for the web site as well. * Fred will schedule dial-in access for the next telecon, scheduled for Tuesday 2 May 2006 at 10:00 am Eastern Daylight Time. As recorded by Fred Proctor on 18 April 2006.
