Meeting Minutes Friday 19 May 2006 Telecon In attendance: Fred Proctor, NIST Sid Venkatesh and David Odendahl, Boeing Alan Crawford, LSC Alain Brail, Airbus Martin Hardwick, STEP Tools Inc. Alain had to reduce the size of the fish head part by taking off the tail, so that it would fit in the machine's work volume. He will forward the new Catia process files to Fred as soon as they are prepared. Fred will send them to David. Alan reported that LSC can no longer take Catia files to AP 203 due to staffing. David will do this from now on. Alain reported that they have not been able to do machining trials at the university due to problems with the Siemens NC verifier and also with fixturing. They are working on this. The demo facility will hold 50 people. There will be 2 video cameras. Flood coolant may obscure the view, but the cameras should help. The demos will be recorded, and the machine is not noisy. Action Items ------------ * Alain will send out revised Catia process files for the tail-less fish head part to Fred. This will also include AP 203 and cutting path CL data. Fred will forward this to David. * For the AP 224 roughing, 2 mm excess material will be added by LSC so that the excess is explicit, rather than implicit through the use of a smaller tool. * A hole will be left in the AP 224 design, but may not be drilled out during the roughing phase so that it can be fully machined during the finishing phase. This will demonstrate the flexibility of STEP-NC. * Boeing will modify the 5-axis rib part and get data to NIST next week. The process will be for a 1/2-inch cutter. Fixturing will be a simple bolt-down on a machinable plate. * Alain will send the abridged flyer to Sid ASAP. * Sid will get feedback from vendors regarding their attendance. As recorded by Fred Proctor on 19 May 2006.
